A life-size horse replica created for Wielka Warszawska, combining animal reproduction, specialty fabrication, and practical effects craftsmanship for film production.
Overview
The project involved creating a highly realistic horse body with accurate proportions, anatomy, surface textures, and natural coloration. Designed as a practical effects solution, the replica allowed filmmakers to capture shots that would be difficult, unsafe, or impossible to achieve with a live animal. From sculpting and structural engineering to painting and finishing, every stage focused on delivering a believable screen-ready horse that could withstand close camera inspection.

The process began with extensive reference studies and body development to accurately recreate the animal’s proportions, musculature, and overall appearance. We then produced a custom structure and exterior shell designed to support practical filming needs while maintaining realistic visual detail. Custom paintwork, surface finishing, hair integration, and subtle texturing were applied throughout the build to reproduce the natural characteristics of a living horse and ensure authenticity under a variety of lighting conditions.
Throughout production, the replica was used for scenes requiring close interaction, technical camera setups, and specialized effects work that could not be safely performed with a live animal. Our team provided support during preparation and filming, ensuring the build integrated seamlessly with costumes, props, camera angles, and production requirements. The final result delivered a realistic in-camera solution that combined animal replication, special effects fabrication, and filmmaking practicality in a single build.
