"Medical Simulation 2"

Large-scale medical simulation element developed for on-set interaction, camera work, and practical effects execution.

Overview

This project focused on creating a large-scale medical simulation prop designed specifically for use during filming. The build was developed to function directly within the production environment, supporting both camera work and physical interaction on set.

Rather than serving as a static model, the piece became an active element within the scene, integrated into staging and shot composition. The project required translating complex anatomical structures into a large-scale physical build that remained visually readable under cinematic lighting while preserving the recognizable characteristics of the original medical reference. Particular attention was given to proportions, surface transitions, and internal forms, allowing the camera to move freely around the object and capture both wide shots and detailed close-ups without compromising realism.

Our Approach

Our Approach

The project was developed through a combination of design, fabrication, and on-set adaptation. From early stages, the build was planned with camera positioning and crew interaction in mind. Particular attention was given to proportions, surface finish, and structural balance, ensuring the object performs consistently during filming.

On-Set Execution

On-Set Execution

We worked closely with the crew during production, providing on-set support and adjustments to ensure the element performs exactly as required for each shot.

This included positioning, handling guidance, and adapting the setup to meet the needs of the camera and scene. The final piece functioned as a fully integrated practical effect, supporting both visual storytelling and technical execution. Its presence on set allowed for more natural interaction and greater control compared to digital alternatives. The large-scale construction also enabled the production team to achieve perspectives and compositions that would be difficult to recreate using conventional anatomical models, providing a tangible focal point that enhanced depth, scale, and authenticity within the filmed environment.
