A realistic dog replica created for Minuta Ciszy, designed for close-up shots, animal-safe storytelling, and practical on-set use.
Overview
The build was developed as a practical effects solution for a premium Polish series created by Jacek Lusiński for Canal+, known internationally as A Minute of Silence. The replica allowed the production team to film sensitive or technically demanding moments without placing a live animal in uncomfortable or unsafe conditions. Every detail — from the muzzle and paws to fur texture, teeth, tongue, and body posture — was crafted to create a believable on-camera presence.

Our process focused on realistic proportions, natural body weight, believable facial features, and species-specific texture. The replica required sculpting, fabrication, painting, fur application, and detailed finishing around the mouth, paws, ears, and coat. Particular attention was given to areas most visible in close-ups, such as the muzzle, teeth, tongue, claws, and facial expression, where even small inaccuracies can break the illusion.
The practical build could be positioned, handled, and filmed consistently across multiple takes, allowing the crew to maintain continuity and control over framing, lighting, and emotional tone. By using a physical animal replica, the production gained the realism of an in-camera effect while reducing risk, stress, and unpredictability during scenes that required precision.
